Her work is constantly evolving and shifting as she experiments with her own interpretations of the natural world around her.
Janette aims to capture the essence or atmosphere of a place or time through sketches and photography. These inform her memories back in the studio where the final pieces evolve using a wide variety of media.
Janette is fascinated by the marks and traces she can make upon paper, board and canvas and therefore my work, although having a fixed starting point becomes fluid and develops through the interraction between myself and the marks she is making. As a result representation becomes secondary to the painting’s surface where tonal and compositional harmonies and tensions structure the final result.
